(Inglese) Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night has been celebrated for over 400 years in Britain.
In 1605 a group of catholics planned to blow up the House of Parliament in London and kill the protestant King James I.
On November 5th, thirty barrel of explosive were put in the cellars under the parliament and Guy Fawkes, an explosive expert were left to guard the barrels and light the fuse.
However the guards discover the plot and the plotters where arrested. Guy Fawkes was hanged.
Since this days has been a popular festival with bonfires and fireworks for celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot.
But the majority abandoned this festival because it's danger but however today is still consired one of the nation's favourite festivals.
(Italiano) La notte di Guy Fawkes è stata celebrata per oltre 400 anni in Gran Bretagna. Nel 1605 un gruppo di cattolici aveva in programma di far saltare la sede del Parlamento di Londra e uccidere il re protestante Giacomo I. Il 5 novembre, trenta barili di esplosivo sono stati messi nelle cantine sotto il parlamento e Guy Fawkes, un esperto di esplosivo è stato lasciato a custodire le botti e accendere la miccia. Tuttavia le guardie scoprono il piano ed i ribelli vengono arrestati. Guy Fawkes fu impiccato. Dal quel momento questi giorni sono diventati una festa popolare con falò e fuochi d'artificio per celebrare il fallimento della Congiura delle Polveri. Ma la maggioranza ha abbandonato questa festa perché è pericolosa, ma comunque oggi è ancora considerata uno dei festeggiamenti preferiti della nazione.
