Blake's themes
• Childhood (positive, purity, innocence, spontaneous) and adulthood;• Nature (evil VS good) explored in realistic or symbolic way;
• Social criticism (he attacks the institution, exploitation, miserable condition of working class, unprotected children and women);
• Symbolism;
• The poet: start to consider their place in society and deal with this aspect. They have the power to create, according to Blake;
• Visionary poet. A better society;
• The task: inform a few people of these visions;
• Imagination-intuition is more important than reason, they allow people to access a world that is supernatural and get in contact with the divine, it is a super sensorial faculty beyond the senses: don’t trust the senses because they are deceitful, don’t judge reality through what you perceive and so grasp what’s beyond reality.
